KEMPO
Kempo (拳法), meaning "the law of the fist," serves within Sanchin Budokai as a versatile competition format for practitioners of Kenpo Karate, Jiu-Jitsu—or both. It is not a separate training style within the club, but rather a competitive platform where your skills are tested across multiple disciplines.

We are affiliated with the Swedish Kempo Federation and the International Kempo Federation (IKF), which enables our members to participate in IKF-sanctioned competitions both in Sweden and internationally. Competitions require a designated uniform: black jacket (kimono), white pants, and a red or blue belt. In events involving contact, protective equipment such as gloves, mouthguards, groin protectors, and shin guards is used.
Kempo competition formats include:
- Semi Kempo
A fast-paced, technical sparring discipline focused on control, accuracy, and strategy. Suitable for Kenpo Karate practitioners. - Self-Defense
Choreographed responses to specified attacks, judged on realism, control, and technique. Open to both Kenpo Karate and Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. - Kata
Pre-arranged forms performed and judged on precision, power, and presentation. Particularly suitable for Kenpo Karate practitioners. - Submission Kempo
Grappling matches on the mat, where the goal is to dominate the opponent through throws, holds, and submissions. Well-suited for Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. - Knockdown Kempo
A full-contact format combining strikes, kicks, throws, and ground fighting without point-stops. Requires training in both Kenpo Karate and Jiu-Jitsu.
Kempo competitions are open to all our members, whether your primary focus is Kenpo or Jiu-Jitsu—and offer a fun and rewarding complement to regular training.
